Square Nose riders, exhaust ?

I know they say that a RN waterbox doesn't fit the beloved SN but has anyone actually tried ?
What stands in the way ?
Is it due to the lack of space in the nose area or is it because of the smaller exhaust hose diameter ?

I have an idea but don't want to go out and buy a waterbox only to have it collect dust on a shelf.

P.S. The RN superjet was created to supply spare parts for the Square. :stups:

Interesting.

I always thought that it wouldn't fit due to lack of space but I guess that was wrong.

Hose bends wouldn't worry me as I want to redo the whole setup.

I don't need a SN waterbox but thanks for asking.
I'm running a TDR with dual exhaust (PVC T-fitting for now) and had a silly idea of modding a RN waterbox.
Just wanted to make sure a RN waterbox would fit before I went and bought one.

The TDR with front only would be waaay too loud.
The way I have it setup now (front/rear with lots of water) works OK but as soon as I cut back on the water some it does get annoying.

I'm thinking of running a RN waterbox with front/rear (possibly front only in the future) but running it pretty dry.
It would still be much lighter than the SN waterbox but without the hearing loss of the TDR.

That's the theory anyway.

Boris, don't buy one, I should have some takeouts sitting around. Call Radney and tell him to look for them, I think I have one with the 'T' welded on too!

i think the top deck might be to low to run daul exhaust from a rn box. i had a rn tdr box in my square and the outlet to the rear of the ski on the box was about a half inch from hitting the top deck where the bracket sits. run dauls with a square box its a lot quieter and there is NO power difference i've had both. i actually put a square box i had layin around in a roundnose i had because it quieted it down and didnt sound as raspy, and still had the same power.

I borrowed a friends RN box and did a test fit. Didn't want to cut up my hoses to fit the RN box so I didn't get to run it but I will pick one up of my own soon.
I think I can make it work with dual exhaust and the RN water box but the T will need to be welded on at just the right angle and close to the box. It does get tight in there but I'm willing to try it.

One thing I will not do is go back to a heavy stock SN water box, I would rather go back to just the rear exhaust and my TDR. That fiberglass monstrosity is just too much.

Dual exhaust and a really dry RN waterbox gets pretty annoying sometimes. I ran a dry pipe and a really dry stock RN waterbox and you could defiantly hear me.

i have a rn waterbox in my sn. fits in there fine. i also changed the exhaust tube that runs through the hull to the larger rn tube. i was running a 760 with the stock sn box and tube. its was not working out to well untell i changed the box and tube it lit my motor up big time.

Radney from X-SCREAM has a RN box with a T that I want to try, hopefully I will be up there on Thursday. If things get too tight in the nose area I'm sure having the whole X-SCREAM team on hand to re-weld the T will help.

My current set up (TDR waterbox, PVC T-fitting and dual exhaust) just isn't for me. My right ear is still hurting and the left has a nice constant ring from yesterdays ride.
Not making friends at the local riding spot (Lovers Key Resort) as most of the owners are in town and the noise is too much for them. I have to keep these old farts happy as they have a nice private beach with a pool and bar that my wife likes to hang out on.

It was quite good with just the rear exhaust, it was nice to lose all that weight of the stock SN waterbox. Now with the dual and the fact that I'm trying to run it as dry as possible the noise is a bit much.
Could always ride with a helmet but what about the old folks ?
