ski throttles out max rpms at 1/3 throttle

Random day on the lake tonight. Cruising along with some power subs, riding backwards on the hood, leg drags, NBD right. then all of a sudden ski started acting funny. i had low cruise throttle then at about 1/3 throttle ski would just rev up and haul monster ass to full speed. If i went further with throttle ski would sputter out and want to die. Weirdest thing ever. Plus i burned through a whole tank of fuel in an hr. Came straight home and was getting dark so i didn't mess with it. was still pissing water. just went from cruise to full bore real quick

701 msd enhancer/coils. b pipe. single carb (stock with b pipe jets). girdle head. 35 domes. stock flammy.

Thoughts???

The first thing I would check is how far your butterflies open while pulling throttle

Check throttle linkage, (sync), between the carbs as well as mounts to intake. Hopefully just a linkage issue and not an air leak.

Not a linkage issue. Checking bolts....

Wonder if something got stuck inside carb causing it to lean out. But it still have all the power.
