Hi,

Im just wondering what can cause a ski to idle perfect but stall at any thing over half throttle??

The ski starts and idles perfect and can be driven at 1/4 throttle but everytime I give it over half throttle it will just sputter and die??

I found that the gas cap is leaking pressure so I plan on fixing that but just wondering what anyother possibilities are??

Thanks

Clogged fuel filter, pop off too high, or main jet too small. Get someone who knows skis to inspect your set up and jet it right for you.

the ski is a 92 PJS ThunderJet F15 so it comes stock with every aftermarket part possible. I think the pop off, main jet are fine because there would not be a reason to change those things! It has dual carbs also!

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
1) fix the gas cap leak
2) Take 1 hour and take your carbs off and clean/rebuild... $80 - use genuine mikuni parts (if that is what is on that ski....) --> test popoff and record the results for reference. Record the low and high speed jet numbers and what gram spring you have too.

Make sure your low speed screws are not in too far... if your low speed screws are in too far even if your jetting is good--> you will go idle-1/4 throttle for like 5 seconds or so and then when you crank the throttle the ski will just want to die...

thats what I would do...

Had the same issue recently with my SXR- it seemed to clear up on its own the other day at the lake. Must've been some contaminant in the fuel.
