Shorter steering plate for SN or mod?

Hey all --

I have a 1994 square nose SuperJet. I'm interested in moving my handle bars forward an inch or two. Is there a direct plate replacement that I can buy or is there an easy modification I can do to the stock plate to get the same outcome? Any pointers would be appreciated!

Thanks,

yea, hack it off and put straight bars. its hillbilly but about the only option unless you put the entire $200-300 sealed bearing unit on there. i could mcgiver something else but not sure who else could or couldnt.

I think I may take the plate and make it so I can move the bars up and down the plate in a variety of locations to see which position I like best. How does it change the way the boat rides when you're 5" more forward like that? Are there any disadvantages?
