Shortening hull questions

So i have my ski in the garage, with 2.5 inches cut off the back. I got off the left side fine, but, my right side ( with the exhaust tube ) is stuck on good. The hull is cut, but the tube is keeping it in. I could:

1. cut around the tube, destroying the piece of hull ( cant glass it back on ), but get to resuse the exhaust tube

2. cut the tube, save the hull pieces to glass back on, and find a new flange to weld on.

3. chop it all and run front exhaust ( no thanks )

Which should i do? should i glass the panels back on, or just slap glass on it?

I was kind of leaning towards #1, and i have enough glass to cover the rear end.

I can post some pics if theres confusion

Pound the exhaust tube out from inside the hull. Put a piece of wood on the end of it and start whacking with a rubber mallet/etc. The piece should come off with it, then you can separate it more easily.

Get the rivets out.
Then pound on it with a hammer.
Use a chisel or screwdriver if you have to (get between the flange and the hull)
It'll come off.

I drilled my rivets, and it slid out by hand. Maybe that's why my foam was soaked? lol

Well the thing is, i put fresh foam in last season, so i think the new foam stuck to the tube like a glue. I hammered the crap out of it, then started this thread. the rivets are stuck to the piece of the hull that i cut off, so they arent a problem. I will either destroy my hull prying it out, or i can cut something.

Errr.....do you have the rest of the back of the hull still closed up?
In other words, are you trying to pull the exhaust out with all foam still in the hull?

Good luck, that'll be tough.

Try pounding on it with a hammer and a piece of wood from the bilge side.

I'd try rotating it, maybe try and get a big pair of stillsons on it and try and rotate it either way a bit

Remember next time you foam to wrap the pipe with plastic wrap so you can pull the pipe out once the foam sets up.

i usually have trouble getting the tube into tight places...not out!!
