Set up wake???

O.K. we were at the lake today and it was a ghost town. Very few boats out there to do tricks so I got to playing around with setup wakes. I would stand way back and go slow, turn 90 deg to left then cut back to where the wakes were meating. I didnt have much time to play with it but it seamed like the waves were stacked really close together. My question is is there something I can do to get them stacked a little further apart? Maybe turn at a different angle or change my speed? Any help would be appreciated. It was making good waves just hard to do anything with them

I've found a nice sweeping 70-90 degree turn to work best.
I try to make about a 15-20 foot radius to my turn.
It seems to make it a little easier to 'drop' into the trough.

I've been using J or U wakes for everything lately. I just make a slow 180 sweepign turn. The size varies for how quick the wake meets. 180 and follow my path and hit the wake when it forms. Its been working nicely for nosestabs and my BR attempts

so after the 70 to 90 turn, do you try to 180 your ski tight and try to go at the triangle wave from your previous path and then roll counterclock wise ( to the left) or do you try to carve around to the triangle wave wider and hit it more straight on? to roll left.

It's easier if you hit it at an angle so that the waves are spaced apart a little better. I try to turn left quite a bit less then 90 degrees, say 45 to 60. Then a sharp 180 to the left back to the apex. When you do that you can drop into the trough at an angle effectively making the waves a bit further apart.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try to work it out. So it sounds like I need to not turn so sharp and change my angle of attack.

This is not the offical way to do things. I believe everyone does things diffrent and puts their own spin on it, These tend to be the three I find my self using most, although I perfer the U/J wake the best for almost everything.

These are just my opinon of wakes and whats been working for me.

-U/J Wake- - Opened Curved/Angled Wake- -90 degree turn wake-

The U/J wake are the best types to make in my opinion as well...In competitions, the quickest and most effective wake is prefreble *sp?? so the U wake would work the best...Id also say that its the easiest wake to perfect because there arent too many variables to worry about
