Same as pink slip?

This guy in his ad says bill of sale is same as pink slip... in CA I'm pretty sure you need the pinkslip right?

He's not confused because he states, "He gave me a bill of sale but thats the same as a pink."

A bill of sale is not the same as the title. It's just proof that you bought it from him. Usually if it was financed and a third party (i.e. a bank) has the title you get a bill of sale and then the title is sent to you once all of the money is paid to the bank.

You can only register it in your name if you have the pink slip/title. If it is registered in his name he can get a new title from the DMV. I have a feeling it's not in his name. I wouldn't buy it.

i bought a motorcycle in california with just a bill of sale. he lost the pink. just make sure it is registered under his name and do a paperless title transfer. you'll need to have it notarized

I'm doing that right now as the owner of a ski I got couldn't find the title but it's registered in his name.

Only problem is, I'm almost positive it's not in the seller's name. He states in the ad the he received a bill of sale. He never got a title so he couldn't register it in his name.

I have sold two sea poo's with only a bill of sale. I talked to the guy afterward and he didn't mention anything about having it notarized.
