RN SJ hull advice

I bought a 2003 SJ RN that needs a paint job bad... I have a fiens with a body shop who is going to do a sick paint job on it.
What if anyhting should I do to the hull before I send it to him for the paint job. Making the ski for flatwater/wave jumping. Here is what i am planning please feel free to drop your advise.

1) add foot holds
2) shorten the hand pole -3"
3) fiberglass over the front air holes in the hood and make the rear ones larger NEVERMIND BUYING A LOWERED HOOD
4) add a elect bilge pump
5) bending stock handpole spring
6) limiting rope
7) strap for the hood
8) replace the hood seal (is the stock seal good or is there something better?)

I have a 760 motor for the ski still looking for a pump and intermediate shaft

If you're talking about over extending the stock spring to make it stronger, don't do it. It'll work exactly how you want it to for a very short time and then it'll be worse.

If your plan is to give it a nice paint job than why not pick up a lowered hood and nose piece ? No sense in painting up that stock hood.
I would do a light reinforcing job (or go all out) to avoid premature stress cracks that would ruin the paint.
Don't ruin the sides of the ski by drilling holes for the bilge outlet. The dash is a perfect place for that or just scrap the bilge pump idea and run a oneway valve.
If you plan to run sponsons, now would be the time.

Yea I am going to take your advice and get a hood and nose piece from a member on here Tim I believe. Sponsons what advantage to they give I have never riding a SJ with them? On the reinforcing I assume you mean in the inner side of the ski on the sides right?

Also adding 2 bile pumps and putting the dumps like you siad thanks for the advice keep it comming.

I have a 760 stock motor planning to run a type 4 pipe I luv them:veryhappy:
The motor has rive adaptors for cone style for air filters is there something I can beside a stock box the help with water getting to the filters? I am planning to replace te hood seal with a Octane one.

What should I do for a ride plate? Stock D cut? Are the 08+ ride plates the same as 1996 to 2007?
I have noticed some skis with side exhaust is ther an advantage I would imagine for tail stands and landing on the tail

Agreed. I cranked down on the pole bolt to make the pole stiff when I was running stock. It worked great. I figured it would certainly break some day, but that would be the happy day that I was forced to buy a lowered bracket. In the end I broke the pole before I broke the bracket.

If your going with a lowered hood, then you need to pick up a lowered bracket like a wamiltons or XMetal. You could also find an R&D bracket. They work really well if you plan to keep your spring. I would find a aftermarket spring like the UMI or RIVA. Believe the Blowsion spring only works with stock typ brackets and they have had some issues, dont know if they correct that.
