Riva Power Bomb's ROCK!!!

Well after testing a set of full specs and loving them, I decided to get a set of Riva Power Bomb 48mm carbs. I worked on my 44mm OEM's last week and although I got them almost completly dialed in; making nice consistant pull/power throughout the rpm's no way did they hit as hard or as fast these 48's!!! The ski felt like a completly different animal. Insane throttle response and the top speed is killer and it pulls hard all the way up! I leaned it out more than the full spec setup I used a couple of weeks ago and it even hit harder than those, probably b/c of the change. WOW!

I could go on a rant about this but I swear that this motor is just loving the big carbs. I cannot explain it fully. :Banane01: :Banane01: Ignorance is bliss at the moment

BTW I only rode the ski for 5-10 minutes with the Riva's but was so pumped I had to post!!! Plus we have a heck of a storm rolling up the river that I narrowly missed.

Yup and a R&D manifold. The full specs had the full specs manifold and RAD valves.

On the riva's I am at 135m (1/2 turn out top), 120p (1 turn out low), 2.0n/s and 115g pop off spring. I think I could richen it up a little on the mid and top but just barley, the ski was quite literally perfect.

The OEM's I was at like a 115p and 125m, 2.0 and 95g pop off but it was feeling a little rich so there was room for improvement there.

You know, from a tuning stand point I wonder if those 44's had an air leak somewhere? That might explain why it ran only so so and was difficult to read and diagnose.

Damn you all!!! Now I'll have to get me that set of dual Powerbombs I've been wanting. GAH!!!!

What's Blowsion charge for them?

I might sell that stroker crank to pay for em.

If you have a buddy that has a set of full specs or riva's see if he will let you borrow them and see how you like them. My buddy squid can vouch for how much of a diffference it made. The first time he rode my boat was with his carbs on it. He rode it with the 44's the other day, did a circle and came right back in with a look of discust on his face :haha: No br attempts or anything. He also rode it when I had the 44's almost completly dialed in and did like it but still, riding with the full specs first dulled his impression.

Something has to be up with those 44's b/c from the second I fired the ski up with the Riva's it just sounded healthier and it fires on the first shot.

Well...my engine (OEM 44's) sounds healthy, fires right up, and is dialed in.

See - no offense - I am somewhat leary of your comparison, because as you admit yourself, something wasn't/isn't right with those 44's.

Still...you're making me spend money, dammit.

I am leary as well b/c I have no idea why the difference is so big. The motor would fire easily enough with the 44's but it was not immediate. Don't spend $$ on my account by all means, I have heard that a nice set of dialed in 44's can hit just as hard as full specs or riva's but not from my experience. I have been on hard hitting boats with 44's that were dialed in but they were not as crisp as the my boat at the present. I am going to have to learn how to control this thing b/c the power is almost to strong for my amateur skills  I had goose bumps after riding it I was so stoked. And perhaps the best part is that I don't have to give these back in a week.

Pic below are of the full specs, and 44's vs the riva's

The duals set up right are really strong

How would you compare a set of 44's to your 48's?

Harder to get right
but better when you have them right
I have a dry pipe so its allways going to be a trade off for throttle response

That seems to be the consensus amongst allot of guys. I must say that I am a fan of the 48's, both full specs and the Riva's. I did have my 44's hitting pretty good, they just needed a little more time with tunning to get them just right. That being said, I am just happy to be out of the tuning phase with my boat.................for now

I'm also running the Riva powerbombs on my build off boat and freaking love them!. It took a little while to get them dialed in but it was well worth it. There is absolutly no lag , just smooth consistent throttle response. I'm currently at 135 m , 135 pilot, 2.3 needle and 95 spring (20 psi) on my 6mm stroker with MSD tl. The best part is that they are about half the price of full spectrums!

Pics below. Proks with pre-filters. Ski is running good. Superjett and Sjweber rode the ski today and they seemed to approve.
