I noticed that my 91 SJ650 has a decent size space between the hull and rideplate while my 1990 SJ650 has no space and rideplate sits flush with the hull.

What is the ideal amount of space between??
I was just wondering how you guys had your rideplate spaced???

spacers are for racers.... and you have a lot of them. it helps to keep the nose down. i prefer to keep the nose light (ie, pic 1). its all personal preference.

which do you like better?

I forgot!
yeah racer would shim or space the back of the ride plate down to keep the nose glued to the water. i have a 550 that is shimmed that much and it makes the ski run flat instead of porpoising. (which means bouncing in and out of the water[before you ask])
