Quick dumb question

Should I wet the gaskets when I put them on with like threebond/yamabond stuff? Or should I put them on dry?

I was going to wet them all with the yamabond, but then I was looking at them, and saw that they had their own glue lines on them and wasn't sure? They are cheap WSM gaskets.

OEM gaskets are made to go on dry. Some of the AF's are and arent. Not sure about WSM, if it looks like it though, I'd leave it alone.

i always put yamabond 4 on the gasket for the front cover. also put plenty o grease around the starter before installing. will help save the stator and bendix from turning to $hit..

Yup I loaded it up with grease. Cleaned out the old crap and put on some nice fresh stuff...

What should I do with the bendex? its still moving freely, should I grease it? oil it? or? I was going to fill the hold in the case with grease, and the hole on the cover with grease (where the bendex sits), but the actuall bendex itself. It was greasy when I pulled it out, I am just wondering if I should clean it really well and reapply some?


I'm using some napa brand vasoline... but feels like the same stuff... I also used it to grease up my oil seals.

One more quick question, what if the head bolts were over torqued?

I didn't use my torque wrench, and used someone elses and maybe because it was shorter it felt like it was tighting them too much. Should I remove them all, re apply some thread locker and torque down again? The motor hasn't run, but it has been sitting all night with the bolts how ever tight they are....

I figured his wrench would be ok, but it felt like we went right past 26 flbs and like up to 60....
