Questions for assurance

I have a few questions,

1. As i was pulling the gas tank to patch a crack on my 07 Sj today i noticed that i could lift the front of the engine off of the mounts, like it was just sitting on the rubber. Seems like it is supposed to be bolted to the hull. Is this normal?

2. This is my first ski and i've taken it out maybe 6 times all flatwater. I hit my friends boat wake, and he says i'm about 2 feet out of the water tops. Is there any way I caused this 8" crack under the bond line?

I know the guy that had it before me only rode surf, so I'm blaming it on him and my noobness for not knowing what to look for when buying. I would just like to know so I dont have to go through this again. Thanks in advance

sounds like you need new motor mounts and need to do some fiberglass work to fix the cracks. If motor mounts go bad, the right thing to do is change all 4. Chances are the other 2 are one the way out if the front two are shot.

pull the motor and take some pictures and see if we can give you some better advice

alright i just took these real quick, pulling the motor is going to take me some time.

the first is with the mount sitting at its normal place, the second is with me holding the motor up with one hand. its a little blurry because i was holding the camera with my free hand but i think you can get the idea. the second 2 are the crack

regrettably Superjets can crack at that location even when not abused-done that. Like above: replace all 4 mounts, repair crack from inside of hull with epoxy (!) resin and cloth.

nuff said!

I'm all about doing it right the first time, plus it gives me a reason to go ahead and order an intake grate, d-cut the ride plate, and some other goodies. I'm thinking maxiloader and blowison mounts with keepers. Opinions would be appreciated.

Well, I ran your first post by my wife (who knows nothing about the mechanical end of jet skis) and she said yes, your motor should be solidly mounted to the hull. All joking aside, it seems like you found the problem before it caused other issues. I'd suggest new OEM mounts and Kenny keepers if you plan on freestyle riding. I'm bias, but I suggest the XR-tech freestyle grate over anything else. If you are mechanically inclined, you may want to get heavy duty motor mounts from a Waveraider and grind about 1/16" off the metal base so they hold the motor at the right height. They are much beefier, but you may have to grind the keepers a little to use them.
