Anyone ever had any issues with gas sitting/accumulation in bottom of the hull. Ski runs great. I don't see any gas dripping from lines or anywhere.

This weekend I filled it to 3/4 to full, drove up to friends cottage, ski sat on trailer overnight, opened hood in the morning before ride and noticed at least 1 gallon at bottom (pumped it out and ran just fine for the rest of the day, although the gas mileage seemed to be poor). I think I have a leak in the tank. What do you think? If so, how hard it it to replace gas tank?

Sounds like th tank is broken around the filler neck, you have to pull the engine to replace the tank, some of the Seadoos had fuel tank recalls, check and see if this is one of them if so you get your tank replaced for free.

Old HX tanks are a pain in the ass. No fun if it's cracked. Check the ventilation of fuel tank. If left sitting in the sun for extended periods with tank full the gas can expand and pop off needle valves flooding engine, but in that case it usually hydro locks engine when starting or is very slow to turn over.

Just one case scenario, but i would top off tank and look for leaks.

Good news. Thanks to wedoseadoo and his recall suggestion. I called a local dealer and gave them my hull #. Turns out that my tank is recalled. I'll have a new gas tank soon...., for FREE! I really do think the tank is the problem.

Well, just a recap, the above statement turns out to not be true. Bottom line, NO FREE tank replacement per the recall.

Yes, the gas tank was leaking, the local dealers (I called 3) wanted $700-$900 to replace the tank, the engine needs to be removed first. So, I'm doing the job myself. Total cost; used gas tank $40, 2 bolts and 2 gaskets $25. Waiting on the tank to be mailed to me from forum member. The removal of engine and leaking tank wasn't that bad of a job. I'm glad I saved the money and now I am more confident and knowledgable with wrenching!

Yes, that's right. The dealers called Bombardier (sp, I think) and just told them there was a leak without disclosing that info.., still they said no.

Interesting they do recalls on fuel tanks for me here all the time. Its sounding more and more like a lazy dealer that may have just said that they called Bombardier.

Yeah, who knows. I do think I'm a better man for doing the job/work myself. Plus, there was a major cleaning within the hull from the stupid chipmunks, loose clamps and nuts, bolts, etc, that the dealer would have overlook or had not done. The ski is worth the attention/time. I payed $1000 for it, very minimal scratches and wear, a solid ski. It runs excellent, compression 150/150, had it out 5-6 times before the gas leak became obvious.
