Pump Housing Sealant

After searching that most people here are suggesting Permatex Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant when installing the pump housing back in. Well after searching at a couple stores locally I can not find the product. But I did find something that seems similar that I may give a shot. Its DAP Auto/Marine Sealant 100% Silicone.

Should I give it a shot or keep searching for the Permatex product?

Im pretty sure you have to to create a good seal and have no gaps. I guess if not done right the ski will cavitate.

No silicone... Just use some marine quality grease on the pump seal and your good to go.

There should be no gaps even without silicone. If you have gaps, you have problems.

The grease is just used on the pump seal to keep it from deteriorating and becoming brittle.

Maybe Im using the wrong terms. Im talking about the edge were the pump housing meets the boat. It had silicone on the edges from the factory.
