Super Jet Opinion: mid shaft rebuild or replace housing

I purchased a 2004 Superjet that obviously saw too much salt water and was not properly cared for. I planned on pressing the bearing and seals and rebuilding the mid shaft housing, but upon further inspection the vulcanized rubber inside the housing appears to have been penetrated by salt water contamination. Those that ride in salt water and are familiar with mid shaft rebuilds please provide your opinion as to proceed with the bearing seal rebuild or procure a new mid shaft housing due to the vulcanized rubber damage. Thanks.

Also, I know there are folks on here who make aftermarket motor mounts. Do any of those people also rebuild the mid shaft housing?

Lastly, I looked up the housing part numbers for that of a Blaster (61X-45332-01-9M) and a Superjet (61X-45332-03-94), they are different. So I suspect you they are not interchangeable. Can someone confirm this?

If the rubber is seperated from the housing, as it appears to be in picture 2, you must replace the entire thing.

If money is an object, you can run it until the rubber seperates all the way, but you risk sinking your boat and maybe causing a bunch of damage if that happens.

I wouldn't put new bearings in that if the rubber is beginning to separate. If it's just the lip, it may have some life, but otherwise, it's toast.

The blaster housings have a wider double row bearing and a double lip seal in the front of the housing and the very rear seal. Other than that the blaster and superjet housing and midshaft are the same. It seems that the older green housings hold up better against corrosion then the plain aluminum ones. Jet maniac has some nice clean housings for 79 bucks and I would go with 1 of those before an aftermarket housing personally. I have seen 3 brand new parts Unlimited housings bearing rust in 1 year which were in 3 different skis.
