ok so this may be a stupid question...

if they only sold polaris octanes to ijsba registered racers, can it be registered to run as a pwc? i have a 2006 arctic cat 440 snopro they did the same thing with but i could register it, anyone know what the deal is? also are they any good? never really heard anything good about polaris. always ridden jap bikes and not had too many issues...

octane's where available to the public also. not since polaris quit making them. you can find used ones and they register just like any other pwc.

They're not a freestyle ski as they weigh about eleven thousand pounds. The lightweight EME hulls look like the octane, though.

Not an octane , but i owned a hurricane for 3 years , that thing has alot of the octane parts, the hurricane also is a turd , it had had alot of work done to it and was one of the fastest skis i have everbeen on , but god dam that thing blew a motor everyear and was always in bits, when i look back , god only knows why i stuck with it for 3 years, the mechanical were the worst parts ,

Hurricanes don't use Octane parts, unless you count a 3-4 electrical parts and the head covers. The bore and stroke are completely different on the motors.

Wamilton did the original design, but Polaris also decided to stick their grubby fingers and really screw it up, they made some changes which totally changed the way it handled. Also, the production quality was nowhere near the quality that wamilton produced. Wamilton was able to retain the original molds, and there are a few light weight Wamilton versions of this hull floating around.

i built the motor 4 times , although they are not the same bore/stroke , they have the same build quality,i should of made it more clear i guess either way they make the s,,test skis out , or rather did :banghead:

he is correct... it was made as a freestyle/race ski. What are you talking about??? A superjet is a freestlye/race ski too...

now a SXR is more along the lines of a race ski only, but can still be used for freestyle. ie. Josh Lustic

I saw one race at the 2000 Nat. Tour in ft walton. They would lean way over, guessing to protect your hands from the bouys.

I clipped a bouy on the last lap, Chris was on the inside split, I was on the outside sweepers section, every lap I was making up time on him, well, I got a bit too close and caught the bouy with my shoulder. Knocked me clean off the ski!
