nose stab

Some one help me out. I need to see a vid of a good nose stab, so I can compare it to mine. Ive been thinking about trying a roll but not too sure yet, I wanna get the stabs down before I get into that. I can only find one on youtube, so help me out.

O ya Iam talking flat stuff, we dont have too many waves in Arizona.:irked:

Stop working on the stabs and go right for the roll. You can develop some dirty habits stabbing for too long.

A good stab is a complete 180 and a vertical entry. Good body and arm positioning too. Head can be looking whereever you want to add some flair (behind you, etc.)

great point... i've been having mucho problemos with BR attempts because I spent too much time stabbing... very bad form now... I was doing better two years ago before i became a NS'in mofo... grrrrrrrrrrrrr

BAILING is a hard habit to break, so dont start. HANG ON TO THE BARS OR RISK SERIOUS INJURY. Now if I can just follow my own advise.

This is so true.. the only 2 x times I've hurt myself doing stabs is when I've bailed and followed the ski through the air.. only to see it land and then pile into/onto it! - do not let go EVER!! Here's a pic of my latest progress - not a video but better than nothing.

I'm still trying to get a stab vertical. 650 power pretty much sucks... Getting better though. I get much more height and travel when on my buddies bolt on RN.

I think I'm going to skip the picture perfect stab, and go right for the roll.

Just need to borrow a bucket for my week holiday late August.

I went out today before work and got some good stabs in. Iam getting higher off of my own wake than before. I think that Iam going to install some holds in a month or so and just go for the roll, Ive got someone with a wakeboard boat that has water bags in the back to throw a big wake. What do you guys think should I try it with or without the wake for first attempts?

I hope this is a joke. I think the nose stab is a solid base move that can progress into rolling and many other tricks.
Learn it, love it, live it!

Why would that be a joke? I agree its is a solid base move for freestyle, but its not a necessary fundamental for a barrel roll.

I hear more bad habits about stabs than I do good. IMO its trick I don't need to perfect and can easily learn it later.

I figure it like this. I'll perfect my stabs one way, and roll the other. That way I won't have a fixed rolling right/stabbing right routine or fear.

May not be necessary, but is the first step in the progression of a roll. A nose stab, to inverted stab, to a roll. I know many people who have ysed this method to lear a roll without bashing the hell out of their ski.

Do tell, im intrested.

I was not aware that it was easier to learn later.

You will prefect your stabs? You just said you don't need to perfect them. Routine? So you practice rolling left and right everyother time? That way you don't fall into a routine? With that, why not stab left and right everyother time?

i have one bad habbit that i've pulled from stabbing while trying to roll... when i stab i tend to crouch a bit in the tray... so my inverted stabs look more like the pic in my icon (whatever it's called). so as i started attempting to roll, as i got inverted I stayed crouching rather than getting my body more forward over the center of gravity... i think that's causing me to lose rotational speed...

at least i think that's what my problem is... :scratchchin: I could be completely wrong

ive heard that once you roll you lose your stab and vice versa, but i see two separate techniques. must be body positioning and what feels "right"

My son is learning stabs now and he gets rotation and gets the nose down, but he does not get the hieght needed to complete. I keep telling him he has to have the height before these menouvers work. You really have to know how to get the height via prejumping and timing before you can make the rest work and look good. IMO rotation and nose down looks sloppy unless you get the nose at least 2 foot off the water giving room to get fully inverted and a full 180.

Avatar - that's it! thanks... i was drawing a blank on that one. :headache: LOL

before i started doing inverted stabs i was doing much better with my roll attempts.

I might try attempting left rolls, since i stab right. Besides, i do everything right and need to start working on my left side skills...
