SX/SXi/SXi Pro Newbie 750sx need help

Hello all, new to this forume. Back on a stand up after about a 10 year lay off. Used to ride the old JS550s back in the day. Just picked up a 94 750sx in excellent condition on a single trailer for $1100. 10 bolts on the intake make it a small pin motor, right? It even still has the oil injection setup. Took it to the lake and rode it for about an hour and it ran good but my buddies 750sxi is much stronger (he has a few mods).

Anyway, I have one problem first off. Anytime to do a spin or a tailstand or pretty much anything other than ride straight up, the ski acts like it's all loaded up. It blubbers like a baby for 10 to 15 seconds before it clears out. My buddies sxi does the exact same thing. Anyone know what's up with that?

Next off of course are the mods. I'm looking for recommendations and personal experiences with intake grates, ride plates, finger throttles (that thumb throttle has to go!), pipes, impellers, etc. I'm after bottom end more than top speed, I like to freestyle mostly so I don't need to go 60mph.

Is there anything to be gained by going to dual carbs like the sxi without any other internal engine mods like porting?

Any other advice, tips or suggestions you'd like to offer would be appreicated.

Thanks all!

The biggest gains I got on my ski came from the factory wet pipe and a lightweight aluminum charging flywheel. My ski has a randd top loader grate and an randd rideplate. I dont think the rideplate is the best but it works for me. I also have a homemade freestyle cone it helps for low end punch. Port work helps alot. I have had a 750 big pin with a home ported set of small pin jugs that made lots of power and now I have a 750 big pin bottom with a set of group k ported 800 jugs. Tons of low end but still flies on the top. I have dual mikuni 44's on mine but I have had it with a single 44 and dual keihins. I like the duals but I think a big single will give you the best bottom end punch. Hope this helps--Jason--
