You put a Mikuni SBN main jet in your return line. 60 is what I used to use on my Riva Powerbomb

When you need one, I use a 1/4 inch nipple 'T' fitting and tap one end for 5mm X .8 and screw in a Mikuni SBN main jet, a 50-60 is usually the smallest you'll ever go and up to 120 at the most.

An appropriate size Mikuni pilot jet will "screw" right into the plastic return line nipple on the gas tank. That's where I put the one on my son's SJ. You can then put the return hose right over the nipple. With clear lines you can see the jet doing its job sort of.

I can put a pic up if needed, but Im thinking its fairly self-explanatory.

I like the restrictor as close to the carb as I can, I don't want all that fuel in the line getting pulsed around from the ski bouncing. I think it could have some effect with the fuel pressure.

If for a single carb, use a 1/4 inch brass barbed splice from the hardware store and tap one end for the jet, on aftermarket carbs with the 90* fitting you can drill the fitting and then tap it and screw the main jet directly into the carb fitting, I have done all of these lots of times.

^^ 2 very interesting points......thanx

ill screw in a main jet to the tank just as a quick trial and error type thing

While my idea has worked great in my application, Chuck is the man for the engine tuning so take what he says with more weight than my suggestion. I never really thought about the beneficial effect of the jet being closer to the carb, it makes sense.

i have a 46modded carb...bored to 50 and the venturi has been removed by GRS

thanx

Did you ever take off the fuel pump and look to see if the stock return bleed is drilled out?
If the carb still has the stock restrictor hole, a return jet won't make any difference.
I always like more options when dealing with jetting issues, so I'd drill out the stock return with a 3/16 drill bit all the way to the bottom, and then start with a 60 main jet for a return jet
That will give me the option to lean out the carb by going to a bigger return jet.
