I was sorry to read about this today. It happened just a few miles from my home lake riding spot.
TAFT, Calif. (AP) — Motocross racer Nathan Woods has died after crashing during a jump while practicing for a World Off-Road Championship Series event.
Pat Tello, a deputy coroner with the Kern County Sheriff's Department, says the 33-year-old Woods was killed Friday following a jump aboard his 2010 KTM dirt bike at the Honolulu Hills Raceway in Taft. Tello says Woods attempted the jump, landed wrong and crashed end over end.
He was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he died.
According to Woods' biography, he is the winningest rider in series history and had won two national championships.
Woods is survived by his wife and two sons.
