that hood's got hand holds right? just make sure to use them and not put your hand between on the hood where the pole comes down. you should be perfectly fine with the hood you bought.

Ahhh... So Lenzi was using the area on the hood for the handpole to sit as another handhold? Does everybody do this???

How much did you pay for the hood? You could always modify it.

Got a good deal... but not that good of a deal... if you guys think a 24-7 hood or an xft hood would be that much better than a wammer hood then I will get one of those and sell the one I just bought... I am in no hurry... prob wont ride again till march/april

what about those compared to wammer hoods?

Yeah I saw the comments made about the new 24-7 owner in that thread about the hood on ebay... that is so tempting though cuz its already painted black... I was thinking about buying it before all the negativity...

now is seems as though I may have bought a crappy model hood anyways... should I sell it and get something else?

There is nothing wrong with the WAMILTONS Hoods, if there were then why did Lenzi, Malone, Rick Roy, Josh Lustic, Brad Lustic, and many others use his hood......

thats cool... I didnt know all those guys ran a wamiltons hood...

If wamiltons is a really good hood... why did so many people pick xft and 24-7 over wamiltons in the hood poll that went on a while back? Like 20-25 percent for both 24-7 and xft and then like 3% chose wamiltons... reasons?

Just because someone picked on hood over another in a poll does not mean they actually own the hood......

the 24/7 hood was a great hood, but you actually rarely saw anybody with one.......... what you did see was Wamiltons hoods everywhere...............

They have ran a Wamilton hood in the past or present.

Fox - I know your trying to be thorough with your purchases (good thing), but some things don't need so much analysis.

The reason Wammer may have got a bad vote in the polls might have to due with his designs. They have been around for a while and really havn't changed much as far as I know.
However! The quality is great, fittament is bang on from reviews like SJBrit, and Wamilton definately knows what he is doing and not producing shabby products. He has been around for a while... FOr someone to survive in this industry they generally have a good grasp on things.

XFT has a better handhold design (depends who you ask) and also their looks are new school. Sergio also has a lot of fans on the X which I would say helps his sales and support here. He deserves it, good products, vast product line, and good guy to deal with.

24/7 is making new LIGHT hoods, that most people would vote for a claim they want, however would never have the balls or money to actually buy it. They are expensive, if you need it and can afford it, it would be nice to have.

WCF is also one to consider. Great support from Steve and good looking/quality products. He has also been around for a while and keeping customers coming back.

I would stick with the Wammer if I were you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the hood and its a quality piece. Did you get 2 or 8 holds? Doesn't matter really, I would never use 8 holds so I'd never buy one. Other flatwater guys say different because they like to use it as a ladder system, also many potential places to put your hand for balancing. Personally I can't get over the look and wouldn't want this.

IF you want to get a different hood just because you want to, thats another thing and you can pick whatever you want.

Personal preference from there on.

Yeah... Sorry, I tend to overexamine EVERYTHING.... ask my wife... she hates it. I just really wanted to make sure I got something good here. As far as your message goes it really makes sense. I think you've all helped me settle down about the whole thing. I think I will still get an x-metal pole though... I didnt know there was such a big difference in the looks of the xmetal pole vs stock... the xmetal looks really good!

Thanks guys.

BTW- the guy that I bought the hood from just messaged me and said he will give me the hood for cheaper as it might need a little TLC... that is really cool. I think hes a member on here too. I was really glad he was honest, so I wasnt surprised when it showed up at my door!

It is the 2 handhold version. He said the hood liner is messed up a little... he fixed it with some rivets and epoxy, but it needed a little TLC to get it back to really nice condition.

He offered me the price of $285... does that sound good for a hood that needs a little TLC?
