First off, let me explain that I'm a pure lazy MF and live alone so I'm an expert at doing things with the least amount of effort while requiring only one person. I have two solutions that would require very little effort. For reference my boat lift (converted to jetski lift) used to be a big wheel that you cranked up and down manually. I got sick of that after a couple months and some modifications, I converted it into an electric hoist that required a single finger and later modified again so I could just use my foot without bending over. lol

The first one that came to mind was a portable crane that pivots 360°. Using the crane you would need a sling that connects in four places at the bond line. The cranes are fairly pricey but I bet you could buy all the pieces and have a local welding shop weld it up for under $200.

The second option would involve wooden bunks with roller blade style wheels that extend from the astroturf ramp to the place where you want it stored. Then all you'd need is a hand winch to get it up...or if you're lazy like me, an electric winch.

thanks guys - great video GreenAnt

I wish I could see that one in operation - I wonder if it is made so that you are able to just get under a floating pwc (in effect, elevated) above the cart in the water? I want to be able to move the cart into place on the dock (or in this case on my garage floor for testing), swing the arm up/over and in the same motion leverage the pwc off the floor to then move it.

I love the way it seems to handle in the movie clip - very easy. Gotta be watching out for some nice tire/wheel setups...

SOMEONE has to have one of these laying around!!!

I was looking around Monday for something to make such a tote with when I came across a spare tire carrier on a conversion van I bought for parts. After some careful study I cut it apart giving me two pieces with the correct bends and they happen to be exactly opposite of each other.I located two wheels with brand new tires on them off an old Suzuki LT 125,I also cut the stub axles off of the spindles. So now I have large floatation type tires with seals and bearings.I ordered the remaining tubing I need off of Ebay today.I will post up some pics when this gets farther along but its actually pretty damn simple.

Here is a B-1 dolly I made from off the shelf muffler tubing welded together , the same can be done for a SJ , just make it narrower , I can picup and move my B-1 all by myself anywhere , in daytona I need no help from the trailer to the water .. ask CATTLEDOG how he likes it , hes walking next to me in the pic , just FWIW

Looks sweet, mine will be virtually identical to the old Kawi TOTE-A-SKI , just with bigger tires.

You wouldn't happen to have some more pics closer up and of just the cart, would you? That looks exactly what I need to get to welding up.

Showme, I've got one of those totes, see if I can get you some pics this weekend. Only problems I have is width and the tires are small, making it difficult to get over the edge of the bank if there is a lip.

heres some pics , this was the easiest method for me to use , I purchaced my tubing and reducers and pipe from napa , they had thicker wall bends .

heres the rest of them , the axles are thick allum tubing and stay in the rims , then i pin them to the frame with the long thru pin , the lift pads pivot , the napa tubing bends were important to use '' much stronger '' another thing i did was camber the lift elbows out away from the ski a couple of degrees so when the ski loaded the frame the tires run straight instead of knock-kneed then painted with 5 coats of rustoleum brush on paint , has not flaked , but I have scratched it, but dont care easy touchup , .. youall may have some better ideas to build on to this and i hope you do but this works very easy for me ... also get the BIG tires the roll very easy ...... this is easy to transport because it fits around your ski right on the trailer and bungee it down ,just remove the tires .... 2 minutes or less

Ok so the bulk of the fab work is done, its off to the welder so he can do his thing now,I will post some more pics when he is done(IE I am taking it to someone who knows what they are doing) I will have to decide on the handle length when the welding is done and I can slide it over an actual ski, hopefully they can weld the crossbar on the end while I am there. The only thing removable here will be the wheels and the handle, the U looking part will be solidly welded.

Here's mine that I made from a old mid 80's Honda 3 wheeler rear end/axle/wheels. It has a adjustable handle for different length ski's and to balance the load(square tubing inside square tubing).
Going on 10 years now with no problems... works great and was dirt cheap to make.

Very nice - only one problem in my case - I want to be able to lift the RN from a sitting on the floor position.

I just had an idea that may save me lots of welding - 3/4" steel water pipe will do the trick for the overall framework. Will still have to make arrangements for the axles and the lift pods though.
