Login and Search from homepage

Maybe I'm missing something here, but if I'm not using my own computer, I usually go the x, then have to click forums to login and see new posts or to search for something.

Is there a way to set this up on the homepage? I looked through the options in the UserCP but didn't see anything.

If the login is saved it's no big deal, but this would be handy for strange computers.

The front page is not the forum, it's more of an intro/news page for the site so that's why there is no login there.

However, if you have logged in before and told it to save your info, there is an extra box for New Posts/PMs/etc.
