Klotz R 50 oil

I heard that Klotz R 50 will cause internal engine parts to rust? My motor builder said years ago it came in a metal can and the inside of the can would have rust on it. Anyone had any experience with internal parts rusting with this oil? I have seen moto cross guys say they have had rust from it.

My KTM have never had anything BUT R50 in it since it was new in '05. no rust.

I mix it 50/50 with quicksilver, The R 50 dose not have any TC-W3 stuff. The klotz SkiCraft is nice just to expensive for me.

lol, kennay is right..any motor will rust, that has to do with time and moisture..water
someone said that because they didnt know what they were talking about and blamed
it on the oil..gravity will pull any oil down afte time///then corrosion occurs

R50 will not promote rust but it doesnt have any ingredients to prevent it. TCW-3 has the most corrosion protection of any oil, it is designed for marine enviroments. You can do well with a non-marine oil if you are very careful about blowing all the water out of the engine and drying out the hull. Most of our local group switched from Castor 927 to Pennzoil synthetic TCW3 a couple of years ago. Now our engines are cleaner and no more rusty cranks.

I have thought about going to Pennzoil synthetic TCW 3 oil myself. My ski sits on the back of our boat alot. So it stays in a moist environment.

I along with some riding buddies have been running R-50 for over 5 years now with now problems. We litterally burn through 50+ gallons a year (its fun buying 55 gallon drums). One of the guys in our group ran a oil analysis lab for heavy equipment and did a bunch of testing on 2 stroke oils. I dont remember all of the details now but, R-50 had one of the best additive packages in it.
It is a good storage oil as well (unlike castor based oils). I have experienced zero problems with rust or had any failures that could be blamed on the oil. We use it in everything from stock class boats to full on open class boats. I have full confidence in this oil and wouldnt use anything else. Just my $.02.
