Octane Just Picked Up

This piece is your LR23 , notice that it runs to a fuse and then to the bilge pump , ground is through the aluminum buss bar, red-purple is power to the LR23, orange is power out and the yellow ties into one leg of the lighting coil on the stator , as soon as the yellow wire senses voltage it powers up the LR23 and sends power to the orange wire and whatever is connected to it.

I used on on a Seadoo RFI to turn on an electric barrel switch in the rotary valve oil feed line because the inner crank seals are toast, so far it has worked flawlessly.

I got the new water lines installed and the problem is solved. It was the green goo inside the original lines that was allowing them to slip off the stainless pipes. Also changed the lines coming from the pump too. The new blue continental water lines complement the engine bay nicely.

I went ahead and installed new Dayco A1 fuel line while I was at it since that was original too. Changed the 3 rusty bolts on the head pipe. In hind sight I should have just ripped the ski apart from all the stuff that got done to this point and its not over yet. I want jet trim….

Clean ski, nice pick up! I remember wanting one of these so bad when I was a kid when they came out and I finally got my first one in 2022

Get steering, bars and a pole spring for sure, the stock steering is garbage and long. Feels like you’re driving from the back seat. The pole springs are usually clapped out. Be careful with the pole latch. They tend to break really easy.

Octanes rip and are a fun change of pace from my surf skis when I hit Havasu or Parker. I have 2 running ones in Hermosa Beach and a roached parts one I picked up this summer that was in a fire. People that tell you they ride like crap probably have never ridden one or spent much time on one. They're not the best handling for sure, but tray time helps. and you'll learn to ride it better. I've probably put close to 40 hours on my mint one since owning with no major issues.

I would get rid of the factory bilge pump. I changed all mine to a normal bilge pump to run on a switch. I didn't like it just running when the skis on and had some close calls sinking while just floating. Also, the Polaris ones can't be modded to run on a switch.

I bought a lot of the Worx stuff that I could find. I'm friends with Kyle at Dasa/Worx and he told me to grab whatever I could find on the shelves at shops or online as the Worx Octane stuff isn't produced anymore.

Keep an eye on Ebay and the Polaris Octane Facebook group, there's a lot of good of parts posted there. Tons of brand new OEM hard to find parts.

If you have any questions, let me know I've become pretty knowledgeable on these skis over the past two years. Hope to see you at Body beach sometime. That's usually where I ride mine

The sad part is someone probably does just not me. Check with Wamiltons and see if they have one laying around.

Try using an appropriately sized Otiker clamp on that hose , or see if you can find a slightly smaller hose that has to be forced onto the pipe even if you have to heat up the end up to get it on , using the Otiker clamp assumes that there is room to get the Otiker tool in there to tighten the clamp , they hold a lot tighter than regular hose clamps.

Wam hates these skis, Polaris changed his hull design at the last minute so he is not too fond of these haha. He has no parts, I was at his shop in 2023 after Daytona and asked him.

Here are my minty ones

Nice skis brother and the brown beast! I am hoping to find some aftermarket stuff for this ski and I posted in the WTB section. As far as the pole spring I was looking for an aftermarket but can't seem to track anything. I got this ski from NM and it was neglected in the sun so the ski was full of sand, burned decals and a nice layer of oxidation on the right side. I addressed the fuel tank hook on the battery tray that digs into the tank and the shotty e-box situation. I reached out to a fellow member on here to see about purchasing a set of OEM graphics. Things done so far are:

  • OEM steering cable
  • OEM throttle cable
  • Keihin rebuild kits
  • Fuel lines
  • Cooling lines
  • Blowsion steering bearings
  • Hood seal
  • Grips
  • Fuel tank pick-up seal
  • Blowsion bow eye (og missing)
  • Spark plugs

Oh yeah and I removed the lame pole stay mechanism that seemed to not work from the factory. Added the Blowsion throttle and a Riva bar pad since the oem was cooked.Photo 1.jpgPhoto 2.jpg

It’s a UMI Superjet Pole so any SJ pole spring will work

I don't see how the springs are the same for the SJ? I am not saying you are wrong I just don't understand how the SJ spring goes down into the pole bracket vs the Octane spring the does a curve where it meets the bracket?
