JS 550 STOLEN!! pls help me find my ski

My 1991 Kawasaki JS 550 was stolen (along with the trailer) on Dec 13th in Ladson, South Carolina (near Charleston). It is very distinctive, so I am hoping someone will see it.

There was no battery in it at the time of theft, and no title or registration papers. Hull # is KAW28386F090. My husband spent many hours modifying this ski, and it has a lot of top end parts (mikuni carb., B and W racing intake, Weisco pistons, solas impeller, coffman racing exhaust, PJS Head and intake grate). Maybe an old 550 with top end parts for sale with no title at a cheap price will stand out.

Monetary Reward
(i.e. $$$$$) is offered for any information that helps me get my ski back. I was trying to sell it anyway, but free was not the price I was hoping for...

sorry for your loss, hope you find it. Will keep eyes open for it or parts of it.

Not to split hairs in your time of grief/anger, but why do you say its a 91 when the VIN says its a 90? I'm presuming its got a lot of 91+ parts in it.

I've seen titles that say within a year different of the hin.

Yeah that's a big oops on my part. When my husband bought the 550, it had a crapped out engine, so he put an engine from another ski in it. When I read your question at first, I figured maybe I had been thinking of the other ski. I just talked to my husband and he said that the engine doesn't have a reed valve system, so he thinks that it's from a '90 as well. Soo.... I guess I really don't know why I had '91 on the brain when I posted this. Maybe cuz my superjet is a '91?? I dunno. Sorry man, I didn't mean to be misleading or anything.

And thanks to everyone for your support and consolations. It helps to realize that not everyone out there is a sleaze... :wavey:

Get him a superjet for Christmas.

Mark44

:lmao: Good idea, but I think he likes the building almost better than the riding. He has an '06 800 SXR, an '86 Monte Carlo SS, and an '01 Honda CR250 dirtbike in his toybox already. That's why we were gonna sell the 550.

No biggie - was just curious

sorry for the loss - I'd be sooo pissed.

i gotta say.... youre following the proper route by posting this on the web. go to pwctoday and post it. also, go to craigslist.org and post in the boat sections of your local cities.

i hope you have as good of luck as our friend paul that got his back in 6 days, completely unharmed.... actually it was cleaner than when he last saw it.

about 2 weeks later, we got an anonymous call from someone that knew the thief and he gave us the rundown. he told us that the thief got wind of all the stuff on the web about it and got scared, dropped it off at a local boat ramp and then anonymously called the police about it.

so put the pic in your signature line and post often. get that pic out there with a big "STOLEN" under it!

good luck.

someone might know what it is it , but there is a craiglists tool, that allows you to search craiglist by region... it would make easier to search craiglist for the parts/ski at once rather than going to each state and city...
