Installing new sleeves

I snapped some pics while I was putting some new sleeves in a 61x cylinder today. This is the third one I've done. I was a little nervous the first time it did it, but it's very simple to do. You put the new sleeves in the freezer for a few hours first. I just put the cylinder on the grill and let it heat up to 400 degrees. Give it about 15 or 20 minutes, and tap the top of the cylinder with a rubber mallet until the cylinder drops. If it doesn't drop just give it a few more minutes. I use the top half of a case to put the cylinder on while I install the new sleeves, and bolt a head on there to keep them from coming back out while it cools. You have about 15 seconds to get the sleeves lined up before they expand.

I've herd that some people install the stock head bolts in the cylinder with a brick paver on top while it's in the oven.

It looks like you did a pretty good job of lining the sleeves up with the ports.

I just used mechanics glove to put the new sleeves in. They get hot quick. You can stick your finger through the exhaust ports to line them up. They spin around easy at first. I keep spare parts in plastic bags with alot of oil on them, so using the oven inside wouldn't go over too well. The transfer ports on these did line up pretty good.

I didn't use barbeque sauce, but I did slather some yamalube on there. Added some brown mustard and relish too.
