Installing B-pipe, ran into problems...need help

Like the title states, pulled off the manifold and believe I've found a broken motor mount. When I lift up on the motor just with my hands, one rubber mount is separated from the hull. It lifts up much more than the other three. The question is--Do I need to replace all 4 mounts or can I get away with just replacing the one? This is my first go-round with anything motor related, so I'm a bit hesitant. (Flame suit on)

The next question is, now that I've got everything off, and I won't be riding for a few weeks or so, should I just go ahead and pull the cylinders and have them ported and polished? I don't know when I'll really feel like pulling everything again. Is it worth it?

Mods so far: UMI steering system, footholds, -2" pole, skat trak prop (b-pipe tomorrow!!)

100% surf riding (wilmington, NC)

Thoughts?

I would personally replace only the broken motor mount, but I am a cheap bastard.
Inspect the other three mounts for signs of damage and replace them as needed.

Porting the cylinder is a nice increase in power. I'd say go for it. Find yourself a reputable shop to do it, so that you'll have help tuning the motor when it's done.

If you are willing to spend the cash on a port job why not get 4 new OEM motor mounts ?

If one broke the chances are good that another will let go soon.

How's your top end ?
If low hour and in top shape than port away, why not.

Its easy enough to check install a long bolt in the threaded hole on the mount, put some serious leverage on it,if it snaps its bad or at least after it snaps it is.

Thanks for the feedback. Money wasn't really the deciding factor in whether or not to replace the mounts, I chalk that up to my laziness. I also really have no idea what a port & polish would run. The ski isn't really low hours-it's an '05, but it's just seen use (abuse) in '07 and '08. Would the P&P show significant gains in power or should I hold off, wait till she craps out and then get get a built motor?

I have a feeling that after the b-pipe install I'll be wanting a little more performance-wise....

Motor mounts are a "disposable item". They will break/fail whenever. You can ride flat water or go big in the surf....
I got tired of buying 4 at a time. Now I buy 4 at a time but install one at a time...always a spare in the box. If you have a B-pipe, keep an eye on the forward port side (left) mount. The pipe makes it tuff to see/feel if it's o.k.
Wamiltons sells a mount that is claimed to be better than OEM for about the same price. I don't know...but I bought them and they have lasted 2 seasons. (more than I got out of the OEM)

Thanks for all of the feedback. With a little help from a friend (thanks yz250fpilot), the motor mount issue is now fixed. B-pipe installation is complete. If I would have known what went into that installation, I would have gone B-pipe before footholds. Those things are a pain in the a$$.

Now I just need to get those carbs tuned. Any advice? I'm contemplating going to a shop and having the carbs tuned "professionally". I've installed footholds and a b-pipe and I don't know if I have the knowledge to tune the carbs. I've read up on the forums, but am still hesitant. Thoughts?

I would take it to a shop since you arent familiar with carbs.Tuning is kinda a major factor in it running good.
