Super Jet i'm considering a b-pipe, anything else needed?

I've got a 2001 all stock sj and am lookin to get more low-end power. I want to keep my ski very reliable and not do too much mods, but I'm thinkin of getting:
Factory B-pipe
Hooker 9/15 prop

Is there anything else I'd need with this combo other than a carb mod? Anyone have better options to suggest?
I have a limited amount of cash to spend, but any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

I think a b pipe and 9/15 hooker are the right things for you to start with. A Bpipe will not cost you any reliability and it will give you a very nice improvement in power.

I would also get an aftermarket intake grate. My favorite and one of the more popular ones is the Worx 201. However, if you are on a limited budget there are quite a few used grates out there that will still give you a huge improvement.

Most of the guys on here will also tell you to shorten your handle pole. This is a free mod that just takes a little time. There is a "how to" thread somewhere on this site. This will help get your weight forward on the ski.

Worx 201 is mandatory if you dont have it already. Its a HUUUUGE improvement, stock intake grate was terrible.

Another thing if your putting on a prop and pipe I was told you should bump compression with a milled head or aftermarket head. Just about everyone here is running a head/pipe.

Then if your doing all that you should get an aftermarket ignition to release the full power of the pipe or else you will be hitting the rev limiter.

Thats kinda how this all starts....

A head isn't a bad idea, but not a must. I certainly would not bother with the a/m ignition. If the rev limiter is annoying you can just have your stock box modded. Great project for another time down the road.

thanks for the replies and suggestions.
i forgot to mention i do have an aftermarket intake grate that came on the ski from the guy i bought it from, i just don't know what kind it is. i should find that out.

I have heard of a lot of people shortening the handle pole. I'm 6'4" and feel like if I was to shorten it, I would be hunching over too much. maybe i'm wrong. guess I'd have to try someone else's shortened ski pole first.

I'll definitely stick with the b-pipe and hooker 9/15 based on your replies. I may down the road consider a better head and ignition mods when more money comes in.

elbow should have came with it. Thumbs up for the bpipe and hooker. I think those 2 mods are perfect for your first mods. Your going to love the bottom end hit. You could also do a free be mod, by cutting your stock ride plate to a d cut.

Quick steer is cheap/free and is a must.
See if anybody you ride with has a d cut plate you can try. Most people like it.....I have it on my current ski and like it, but I didn't like it on my round nose. A lot depends on riding style and weight of rider etc.

I am 6'4" as well and I would still say cut your pole. I had my last RN pole at -4. maybe for now just take 2" off it and give that a try. Once you get used to it, you will really like it.

well I'll figure something out if the pipe doesn't come with an elbow. Definitely cut the OEM one to use.
I'll for sure find someone with a D-cut to try before I do it. I didn't notice much difference in my old extended ride plate to my now stock ride plate. but i'm willing to try out a D-cut.
I will consider cutting down my pole, but definitely a little at a time to make sure I like and and get used to it.
How do I do a quick steer mod for free? a simple adjustment? I'll look into that.
Thanks everyone!

Ive had it all on ,at one time or another ,the biggest bang for you buck ,and reliablity being a big factor, is Bpipe and carb.m2c

I asked that specific question to the sales rep at Factory Pipe, she said to me that everything is included to mount the pipe up.
Now I'm wondering if she knew for sure??????

Depends, I found the rubber elbow that came off my Protech would NOT fit but I don't know about OEM ones. Factory pipe will NOT give jetting recommendations for the Mod pipe, I called them and asked and they refused, the only suggestions they have are for the limited pipe. But if you don't have porting then Limited may be better. Most guys who have the Mod pipe seem to run just slightly higher pilot jets than the recommendations for a Limited pipe. (like 72.5 - 75 pilots and 135 mains)

Thanks everyone!

Not a simple adjustment. I made a little plate to add onto the steering nozzle to allow me to get more throw and another little plate to attach to the steering plate to allow me to move the steering cable outwards from the pivot point. NOTE: you will likely have to grind a little out of your chin pad to get the cable to move freely. Then it is just a matter of adjusting it all up (this will take a few tries) A great mod though, you will really notice a difference in maneuverability once done right.

ps. Couldn't be happier with my new b-pipe. While I didn't find an improvement in power over the Protech, the B-pipe just fits so much better. Makes the inside of the ski look so much cleaner and roomier. Also made routing water lines and stuff SOOO much easier. Plus you can tell once it is in that it won't have the issues with vibration that heavy overhead pipes eventually develop.
