I'm getting ready to pipe the 05 SJ. Here is a pic of the pipe. The question is, the headpipe on my SN says Factory "B" Pipe and the pipe pictured only says Factory Pipe. Is there a difference? It came off of a SN650 but is going on a 701, can I just enlarge the exhaust manifold bolt holes for the larger 701 bolts? Also, what chamber is this? Mod?

Are there any tricks/tips to getting the carbs apart for rejetting, I have heard it is a real PITA getting the metering block screws out and pulling the tamperproof covers off the adjusting screws. Thanks!

You really should have the headpipe and manifold enlarged to 47mm, or risk deto. You home today?

i was saying "its still a b pipe", in reference to the fact that it doesnt say 'factory "b" pipe' on it like his other one.

yes, itll be better than stock

The bolts are not larger on all 701 motors, only the 62t cylinders. The OEM cyl on your 05 SJ should be a 61x cyl which has the same size bolts as the 650.
You can run that 650 chamber, but you'd get more power out of a newer style limited or mod chamber. I have a 650 manifold on my 760 motor. Opened it up myself from about 44mm to about 47mm.

Check out the FAQ section. Think there is a section about jetting the new carbs with the tamper dohickies.

i was referencing the different shapes of the exhaust ports, not the bore or bolt size.

doesnt the use of a 650 manifold on x or t cylinder result in very little sealing area around the ports and cooling jacket?

We posted at almost same time, I did not read your reply until after I had posted. I was replying to his orig question about the bolt size. Sounds like he thought all 701s used the larger bolts.
I've been running the manifold for 3 years w/o any problems. It was a small one, like 42mm-44mm I think. I figured it was for a 650, but may be for a 701. :dunno:
