Seems like it'd be easy enough. Every time I get the back end out of the water to start the fountain, I can hold it for half a second or so and then once the I give it enough gas to have a decent looking arch...the ski rockets under the water between my legs. Do you have to get the nose down with gas and then immediately back it off or what?

sounds like you got it just need to practice throttle control... try blipping into a stedy streem,, when the nose starts to go under slowly back off throttle. practice practice practice... bilge pumps bilge pumps bilge pumps

Actually.... what I do is sit on the front and you have to let it idle its self nose down a little bit.... go easy on the throttle and soon the full pump nozzle will come out of the water now you can get on the throttle good and it wont through you under.....
You can hold it all day once you get it right.... I have held them forever....
You just need to be smooth and get that nozzle up and out!!

How long you can hold a fountain really depends on your air intake locations.

Try hanging farther off the front and just ease into the throttle very slowly.
