help with wcf holds into sxr

I'm wondering what people have done for installing wcf footholds into an sxr. It seems like its just too close to the exhaust even when I cut the holes as far back as I could. It fits, but with some pressure on that contact point with the exhaust.

move exhaust? mod the footholds? maybe it'll be ok if I put 4lb foam in there for support?

here is the hole as you can see it fits pretty flush i'm just worried about stress on the exhaust and on the back right corner that hits the outside wall when i push all the way in.

doesn't the foot hold have a tapered section on the right hold to accommodate for that?

Hmmm, we put those holds in my brother's SXR this winter. It was nudged up on the exhaust tube a little, but it wasn't anywhere close to hitting the outer wall of the hull.

The part that actually is close to contacting or may be hitting the exhaust tube is at the very tip of the foothold. There is going to be next to no weight on that part of the foothold, unless you have super long toes. The majority of the weight will be a good 4 inches back from the tip likely. I think it will be fine with the 4 lb foam in behind there. We put 3 lb foam behind my brother's and haven't had any problems yet.

Here is a pic of where we put them in his ski. It's blurry but will give you a good idea of where we installed them. Looks to be close to the same spot yours are.

My kickers sit normally and I feel like I'm standing on the exhaust.

k sweet. i'm about to sand/epoxy right now. do I need to go all the way through the gel coat to fiberglass or just rough up the gel coat then clean it off real good?

I prefer going all the way through the gel......but i am unsure if my preference is correct or not.

one more question: I forgot to close the 105 resin so it's been sitting in the can open for about 10 hours. Do i need to buy a new can or is that gonna work ok?
