So I finally got my main engine to run great for the first time this year. :bs:

I updated some port work in the winter time, and changed from dual 44's to a single 48 Full Spectrum with Boyesed Rad Valves.
My Total loss had a couple small problems, which I Fixed a few weeks back. Second time out, the TL died altogether.
Alright, back to stock electrics. The next day it ran pretty poorly - small exhaust leak, but even after that was fixed, it was questionable.

So I pulled the engine, went over everything in the bilge, put everything back together nicely. I found that my boyesen reeds were all chewed to hell. So I replaced it with stock cages and CF reeds.
Damn, still no go. Runs like crap.
Found out last week that my coil was questionable at best, so I fixed that.
My second pulse fitting was leaking air very badly. Fixed that.
And finally, a grounding connection inside the ebox was spotty.
While putting things back together, the relay fell terminals down on the ebox (the metal part). Sssssmookin'!!!
Everything still looked good, though, so I gave it a go.
Took it out yesterday morning, and it ran fine for the first 100 yards out of the marina, and then quit. :bs2:

So, back to fixing. :soapbox:
I replaced the stator with a known good one, installed brand-new spark plugs, emptied the gas tank (3 weeks old), and put fresh premium in.
Back to the water today.

FINALLY!!!! Finally nice & reliable brapple to go! :brap:

With the new porting and the single Full Spec, the power is just about identical to last year's setup with TL, VF2, and dual 44's. Obviously, the off-idle hit is not quite the same, but pretty close. I am running a lightened stocker FW and stock CDI with no rev limiter.
The topend pull is real nice, too. And I can hold it WOT, without trouble. :fingersx:

Anyhow, my goal with changing setups was to replace broken stuff, sell some expensive things to fund my trip to pismo, and most of all, to go to a reliable, yet powerful setup.
Looking good so far.
I was getting pretty upset by this time.

i know how that feels matt , ive got a gp800 that just dosent wont to run right ive gone back to standard elecs from s totoal loss , replaced the reeds and a hole heap more and it still wont run right , its now parked in the garage out off frustration and im rideing my x2 and pole ski
chouches suck big time :banghead:

Man I dont know anybody that wrenches as much as you.

I know....it freakin' bugs me. I mean, I like wrenching for performance reasons, but there's gotta be an end to it.

Sheet, I just want a reliable turn-key setup now. Tired of wrenching.

After all that wrenching I would too. Glad it its finally running. Thats a pretty late start for the season. Have you been riding a back up ski?

Good luck! With freestyle skis the wrenching never ends...not even on the mildest of setups. But as you know, it IS worth every minute(day, week and month), cut, drop of blood, hair pulled out, dollar spent and cuss word when you get out on the water and it all comes together. Even if it's only for a few days!

You did not hear me say that.
Let me rephrase....I want my Superjet to be reliable, yet powerful.

Hydrospace? Now that's funny to be mentioned in the same sentence as reliability. Surely everybody here is familiar with Polaris. Polaris made two machines using the same powertrain. The MSX 110 and MSX 150 use the same Weber produced engine. The 110 is basically the same producing 110 horsepower with the 150 at 150 hp. Working at a Polaris dealer I can tell you that these machines are notoriously horrible on reliability. They suffer from electrical issues (as do all rolly pollies) and oil level is so critical that it causes problems regularly, and that is in a couch, I can only imagine the problems with someone trying to use this machine for freestlye/freeride. I have had no experience with the Hydrospace so I can't say one way or the other, however I have replaced an engine in an MSX 150 and have another at the shop now needing the same. They're not cheap either. Dealer cost for the engine was $4995 plus shipping on the heavy beast was $135 from Minnesota to Texas. Time will tell if they are a reliable machine or not. I would say it is still too early to tell.

Again I say I have never had any experience with them only with Polaris equipped with the same powertrain. It is still too early to say that they ARE reliable.
