Got hooked!

So we finally got my buddies ski running half ass and took both ski's to the lake yesterday. Spent a couple hours riding, then all of the sudden I heard a noise in my pump area and feel the ski kinda bog. I figured I sucked up a stick or something so I immediately killed it and jumped off to check. Stick my hand up through my intake grate and instead of finding a stick I find myself hooked on a lure. After I got it out of my hand I had my buddy tow in my ski and gave him my life jacket so I could actually swim to shore (those puffy neoprene vests are a pain to try to swim in). When I got in we pulled the ski out on the trailer and sure enough there was a good 20 feet of line and a rapalla wrapped around my drive shaft.

yep.

I got snagged in about 200 feet of monofiliment a few weekends ago when superX2 and waterwhipper were there.

that sucks, and the fishermen always look at us as the polluting scum.

One time, when I was still racing Novice Limited, I took off from the start of the race and knew immediately I sucked something in the pump. I didn't have any power and you could just feel it. I kept the ski pinned the whole race and just focussed on riding clean and still finished 3rd.
I look in my pump after the race and find my holder's string to his bathing suit! I'm surprised I didn't wrip the whole suit off.

Not all fishermen are "stupid losers", but a lot are. There have been many times our lines get snagged on bottom and break off (especially when trolling), then later then float away. I am an avid fisherman (took second in a local walleye tourney Saturday) and never litter. I even pick up crap I see floating in the water.

IM the same way aranka.

well I used to be when I had time to fish.

At the boat ramps, and on the docks, I ALWAYS try and start a conversation with the fisherpeople, ask what they caught, about the depth and patterns used.

trying ( in vain it seems sometimes) to show that not all of us jetflea pole humpin jetskiers are the suck.

I didn't say they all were, I said there are so many around here.... We have lots of different fishing here... I guess when you have so many people doing it, the scumbag ratio goes up... They do litter a lot though. I get irritated w/ the ones who dump their guts at the ramp... lame

typical fishing types I see:
the guys who hang out on overpasses
the guys who fish on the beach
jetty fishing
flats fishing
off shore
river/inlet
lakes

thats the best ones right there.

the guys who fish ON the boat ramp, and that look at you like a nuisaince when you bring in your boat or jetski.

as much fun as the family that lets their kids swim at the ramp.

I was loading skis out a few years ago, and this family was there ON the concrete ramp, Mcdonlds trash a nd cups everywhere, I backed down, they didnt move, I got out, made some noise on the trailer, getting straps ready, they started to move..

they left a bunch of CRAP there.

I finally just backed down over some floaty toys, a life jacket, and a bag of mcdonalds food of theirs.

and loaded my skis up.

we get to deal with these POS rednecks swimming, fishing, camping you name it on our ramp. and i have had my ass chewed out more then once cause i was trying to launch my boat or ski. they get all pissed cause they have to move. and never mind they swim right next to a sign that says NO SWIMMING around ramp, but in there defense they probably cant read it.
sorry rant over, i just had to deal with this again yesterday.

oh and what makes it more frustrating is there is a swimming only beech about 75 yards to the left.
