I understand your reasons Ben,

for the guy that was asking initially, I was trying to steer him towards a head with domes that matches the bore diameter.

as I said, it will work, but its not ideal.

obviously a 84mm piston is going to hit a 701 head gasket. I run a stock WBII stainless head gasket, stock 701 head(it is only a 1.5mm flat lip around the edge of the dome), and a thick base gasket and it works fine.
I didn't do this because it was cheap, I took my brand new 08 apart to do this and the only reason I went this route is because of the rules. You can bore and change gaskets, you cannot touch the head.

sorry MattE, i should have put the facetious smiley in with my use a 650 head remark

my sarcasm did NOT convey.

So would I.

What were we arguing about? :dunno:

Of course you MUST use a head with the right size/diameter domes - I sort of assumed that's a given.
(Same for the headgasket)

your advise was good, mostly.

resleeving allows MORE than one more over bore past 84mm

the cases can be clearanced with a sanding drum though, no need for big $$ machining there.

it all depends on budget.

sorry for my advice thought he was looking for a motor to last awhile didn't mean to start a battle

Furthermore, if you're on a budget, get a stock 760 head.
They're cheap and will work.

You won't have the strength benefits of a griddled Aftermarket Waffle head, but you'll have $300 to pocket for the difference instead.
