Quite frankly, in my opinion, the oem Yamaha FX-1 front hood latch was defectively designed. It was on my FX-1 when I bought it and was already partly broken. I immediately replaced it with a Cold Fusion front hood latch like the one which was on Mike's ski when he sold it -- much much safer/stronger design IMHO.
