fuel pump compatibility Q

Ok well I have a 64x( 760 twin 44 carbs) engine and been having some low end issues and after taking the carbs apart to build them I noticed that one of the fuel pumps is no good. Well I have a bin of 44mm carbs and was wondering if the fuel pumps wood be usable. They are physically a bit different but the mount the same. Mostof the pumps are from yamaha 650 engines if that makes any difference. I just figured since the rebuild kits all have the some compnents I mihg tbe able to save a couple bucks and use one of these just wanted to verify flow rates werent different or anything. thanks

I'd just get a rebuild kit and redo your stock fuel pumps.

The older style pumps have a larger opening at the fuel inlet and they use a thicker paper gasket.

The newer style Mikuni and Yamaha fuel pump use the thinner rubber gasket and have a smaller inlet hole in the pump body.

alright, guess that means Im getting a new body. I bought the rebuild kits and when I went to do it, the body itself is damaged. The sealing surface for the one way valve looks like something was crushed against it. its no longer smooth so it doesnt seal well at all. thanks.
