So yamaslut's thread on rocker mod gave me the itch to build my own. Lemme know what you guys think. I have the same problem with "pearling" in whitewater/rapids and as a lot of you do in the surf.. and when your in a massive hole in the rapids and the current catches the nose it's game over! with a knarly swim through the white. So I'm hoping this mod will allow me to be a lil more confident in the big stuff.
Ive cut approx 5-6" off the front top deck and forced the bottom deck up to meet the top with help of a long bolt and nut as you can see in the pics. After I forced them together I glassed it up. Next I'm cutting down the tray sides and widening the tray. While I'm butchering this thing I figure I might as well shorten the back 3-4" as well. Some body mentioned on yamasluts thread about giving the ski a fish shape, narrowing in the back to give it more surfboard like handling and less boat like. But I know a wider ski in the rear makes for a more stable ride, which is what I need it the rapids. So is this gonna make me squirrely or more controlable? Any input is greatly appreciated.
