I believe that is GASSEM, it takes a lot more work to make parts than I would have thought, getting a good mold is time consuming. The rideplates take about $25 in materials and at least 2 hours to lay up and trim out.

Remember you asked that question next time you wonder why we have so little aftermarket support in our sport. Instead of spending honest money and buying a product or making our own from scratch, we'd rather someone just make a copy of it and sell it to us for cheaper. Great for you, except it's a double edge sword. You get a better deal this time, and next time, that company doesn't bother investing in making a new product because someone is just going to rip it off and undersell them. It's not just about making money per part, it's also about recooping costs.

The concepts we have in this sport of just buy it, dup it and resell it pisses me off. Buy it, or go buy some foam and make one yourself. Give the honest business man the sale he deserves.

I agree here,now if you want to take the time to make the plug,pull the mold and make one yourself,thats one thing,but splashing someone elses work is not looked upon favorably,I am making the Japanese style footholds so I know what kind of time and effort it takes to produce a part like this,cost of materials is minimal,time spent making the plugs and molds is staggering,you wouldn't believe how much time is actually involved in making such a small part.

and if you gays so "right guys" why you buying used parts from somebody most times and not from manufactor ?

Lot of us doing staff ourself to save money we don't have, makeing brackets and other things becouse they not available here in USA.
I will try to make something similar to this.
I don't try to rip somebody's design and make money or piss somebody of but it's happening everywhere with everything( I meen ripping of)
And how you guys can be shure person who saleing this part on Ebay didn't do same thing ripping off somebody's design

Buying and using used parts is totally different,its recycling at its finest and should be done more ,not less.Splashing someone elses part is wrong,theres nothing that will make it right IMO.

Besouse I think some price tags to high

What about Footholds, front sponsons or toobies, bottom pieses to change shape of X2 nose and all other fiberglass homemade staff what sold and saleing here on forum ? Is it all original design ? and if you want to buy toobies you will buy them from Blowsion for almost $300 or here on forum for about $130 ?
I bought foothold and toobies here on forum and more then happy with product and price. Thanks Lu.

If every time Waterdawg (or Watercraft Factory or any other parts maker) came out with a new hull and sold them cheaper, he'd quit making them very quickly and the innovation would stop.

Obviously this is a desirable part, so you either pay that asking price or you spend the bucks to buy a vacuum bagging setup, make several test parts, etc to copy it, but you either have to make a mold first which is very expensive or you buy one to splash, so you're out that money anyway.

damn... give the guy a break. i like to support businesses that promote the progression of our sport, but not when i feel like im getting ripped off. $300 for a set of tubbies makes me feel like im being ripped off. i bought a few sets of those taiwanese made tubbie style sponsons for about $75 a piece because i thought that was about what they were worth. shoot, i even bought a couple sets of louie's sponsons for a fair price to support a fellow rider.

now if someone can make a replica of the b-pipe..... put me down for 3!

Its okay to rip off Japanese fiberglass parts IMO because the exchange rate and shipping cost.

Just don't do it from a fellow American because the cost is too high. :twak:

Hey guys. Why I feel fricken guilty for what everybody doing ? little bit more and somebody will blame me for war in Iraq , floods and earthquakes and God know what else. I just ask if somebody can make this trim piece and not about right or wrong to do this. We all have one way valves installed in our brain : if I cheat my wife - it's O'K, but if she did same - BIEACH !!! am I right or am I right ?
We all do bad things but not allways want to admeet it.

Bud I am damn sure on this on this one ,heres your link.By the way no one is accusing you of anything,if you feel guilty wellllllllll,I can't help that,all I am saying is don't promote ripping off other peoples work,there is enough of that going on already.If you will look at Louies stuff it is considerably different than other sponsons available,there is no way it was splashed off something else.

I think you're overreacting. Noone called you a bad guy. We simply disagreed with your request.

I don't think Louie duplicated the Tubies. I thought he made something similar from scratch. If he copied them exactly, well, shame on him. I'm not getting tubbies from him anyway. My tubbies are custom made, from scratch, by hand. They are only $140 and I know for a fact they are not a rip off. I watch the mold get made.

I don't intend to support people who copy someone elses design. I don't care if wedo makes a foot hold from scratch that resembles something someone else is making. He made it from scratch, it is different. Yamaha made the waverunner and it closely resembled the jet ski. That's ok, because Yamaha took the concept of the jet ski and put their own spin on it. They didn't buy a kawi, take a mold, slap a yamaha sticker on the side and sell it for a thousand bucks less.

When that item doesn't sell at that price, the price will go down, or someone will make something similar that is better or cheaper in some way and the competition will bring the price down.

I also don't care if you think it's ok because other people are doing it. I don't lie, cheap, steal, kill because I try to be moral the best I can. I'm not perfect, and I don't expect any of you to be either.

A copy isn't an improvement. Although you're right that it's almost impossible to make a completely original part, everything is essentially a copy.

this is what will kill the aftermarket parts for any ski.

tom21 is very worried someone will rip off his parts. I've put about 40 hours in designing/making a plug for a hood at tom's shop and I'm not half way done yet. when tom starts selling this hood and some guy "trying to save a buck" or "offsetting prices" splashes this hood THERE WILL BE A FIGHT.

any upstanding parts maker WILL NOT rip off another part. He will make an significant improvement on it.
