So I did an air test today, good news is the cases arnt leaking but the intake and where the cylinders where they meet the cases leak, I torqued everything down properly why do I have leaks?
What's my next course of action? Get new gaskets? I'm afraid tightening everything up will strip things
I tested at 15 psi
Advice/Help

Are the current gaskets old or have they been reused?
Im no expert on the matter but i think that a new gaskets and some yamabond would fix it pretty easily.
When i rebuilt my motor i made sure both sides of the gaskets were coated with a nice layer of yamabond (not super thick but enough that it was covered completely and a tiny bead was pushed out when torqued down). I have yet to have any problems with leaking

I would definitely avoid over torquing anything

leak test at 8-10 psi. strip it down, clean all surfaces and i mean clean them. do not scratch them all up either removing the old gasket material. i use hylomar, universal blue (not ultra blue) or permatex aviation gasket dressing. all those sealers are for lower pressure sealing and will not seal up a huge gash in the mating surface. if your surfaces are shiat, use 1211. the other sealers will allow you to remove your gasket in one piece and even re use it if your cheap or in a pinch. acetone removes the old sealant in about 1.45 seconds without swearing at all. i use this stuff on the intake gaskets as well. torque it by hand until the bolt feels like it is loosening, haha, no, use a torque wrench with clean hardware and chased holes, i do not use locktight on anything.

As others have said, the most likely cause is the surfaces weren't clean when you installed the new gasket. You can probably reuse the base since you haven't run it yet. Just pull the cylinder back off and clean everything thoroughly. I've used acetone as well and it works good after you've gotten most of the stuff off with a razor blade.

Do you have a girdled head with ada style girdle hardware???

Yes

Everything was super clean, I just got the entire motor from Xmetal, all the gaskets were new as well.

So I should take the leaky gaskets out put new ones in, do I use honda bond or 1211 on my gaskets?

I had to assemble it, Xmetal wanted $1200 Just to put the motor together...anyways the first time I assembled it I didnt use any 1211 but I will this time, I was instructed by my builder not to...I guess they were wrong

well like i said, the 1211 will for sure help seal it up because it is a setting compound. but it is a pain to remove and clean after. the hylomar or permatex aviation does not have the sealing ablilities as the 1211 but..... it will help seal and after 3 years of running the motor when you break it down again, the gaskets will not be stuck to the cylinder or cases. you will be able to peel them off, clean the surfaces with acetone and reinstall you new gaskets. I use it for this reason and not the sealing reasons. i have put to many gouges with the razor and worn out my finger nails scraping the 1211/gasket off. same with the oring heads, orings are supposed to be reuseable but if you 1211 them in, you will rip them removing the head, WTF right? so why use 1211? beats me, i never use it, i threw it out and have never found a need for it again once i found hylomar or the permatex aviation which is available in canada and is the same as the hylomar. just my thoughts.

$1200 to assemble ?
You sure about that ??

Your bolts aren't bottoming out, are they ?
And you are using OEM gaskets ??

i heard some ridicoulous price before too but.....if they fix and chase and properly assemble the motor so it is all tight, they are still raping ya. living in canada i learn to do all this stuff myself.

Yes To all the above, Its a joke if you ask me, I spent over 3k with them and they wouldnt even assemble it for me

LOL, No the bolts arnt bottoming out Its pretty much all new hardware as well except the flywheel cover

Thats a ton of money just for an assembly? I have a few reservations about thier pricing also (I bought an 865ss from them, and once I paid its like the deal was 'finished'!). FYI, my DASA motor was less expensive and they were more helpful throughout the build. Anyway, not to knock J-roc but IMO the aviation permatex isnt as long lasting as 515 or 51580 permatex (loctite brand), I use all types of sealants with my company and like the 515 the best for Ski engine cases, and Red spray Hi-tack (also loctite brand) for stubborn gaskets if you want. I like to use a thin film of sealant around the outside fit of the crank seals too, good luck!

yeah the aviation stuff is messy and sticky but i have had success with it. i would prefer the hylomar racing formula but have not been able to get it local. I use permatex motoseal for the case halves, it is 1211 basically. i will look at the 515 / 51580 next time i need to get some. i used the aviation because it was here in town. i don't use it to seal but to keep the gaskets from getting bonded on, which does make a great seal but hard to remove and can damage the mating surfaces over the years. i upgraded to my TLR built DASA PV 771 for 1200.00 approx after i sold off my b-pipe, head, cylinder/pistons and cases.
