I am having a bunch of electrical issues. However, I have the line on a 2006 complete electrical box and stator like brand new. Can I just swap it with my 2003 Electrical box and stator? :swordfight:

BTW..I have a Vilder Aluminum flywheel that advances my timing a bit...

i would imagine that the flywheel has the same part number between the '03s and '06's, youd be able to switch the stator/electrics right out.

again, i dont really know first hand, but its just an educated guess.

i know its not what you really need though.

according to buykawasaki.com, the f/w part numbers are the same on the '03 and '06. if the f/w is the same, why wouldnt you be able to switch everything else out?

I know they are different...but I'm swapping EVERYTHING. Stator, ignition, coil, CDI, rectifier...etc etc.

oh
in that case fire away.
your flywheel may be a problem though
didn't that vilder give you a advance??
i wonder then as well if you will have problems with the new ignition??? and end up like:rant::shock:

DJ-As long as you swap the whole e-box and stator from the 06 and install it on your 03 you should be fine. I'm not sure about your flywheel but it should work. I'm currenty using a RAD flywheel with a 04 electrical system and it working fine.
What kind of electrical problems are you having?

It clicks when I hit the start button and sparks come out of the connection where the red cable connects into the box and it makes this gnarley crackling electrical fire like sound. I think I fried something in there. (Solenoid?) Plus, my wires are shot (I found this out the last two times I hit salt water!)

I forgot!
the newer ignitions are dc powered aren't they? that is a nice upgrade. something kawi does better then yamaha. The stator/pickups on the flywheel cover and a dc powered cdi. why yamaha? why? lol. did you crack open the e-box to see whats cookin?

I just ripped it off last night. My brother is checking it out. He told me about the DC upgrade too. Why is it better than the old version? more reliable?

Sounds like the plastic peice that goes around the solenoid post may be cracked causing a short.
The 04 and up system is a DC cdi. It's similar to advent and only uses the blue & green pick up coil wires. If you can get the 06 set up, go for it.

I'm getting it tomorrw...just gotta figure out how to hook it up! :fing02:

You should have no problem hooking it up. It uses two big plugs that go into the CDI versus all of the old male/female connectors like your 03 set up. Pretty simple.

yeah you should be able to run it as a total loss too if you want to bang off the magnets and remove the stator. i think it would be better because it runs off the battery and you should have less problem solving with electrical. if the stator goes bad it will just not charge the battery, the motor should still run. I think this is a much smarter way for the ignition to work vs the yamaha/older kawi style.

So...I can just get a TL Flywheel and run it with no other Electrical Changes?

:bananalama: Small issue, but does it hook up to the start/stop switch with the same plug as my 2003 or do I need connectors?
