Do you need to add a spacer with -5mm setback?

I got a -5mm set back impeller for the SXR. I was wondering if an additional spacer/oring is needed at the end of the drive shaft to make up for the -5mm difference in the length from stock?

i have put alot of cut back props in, and for some reason, sometimes i needed a bumper, and others i did not. i would guess about 1/2 the time, i have used bumpers.

put the prop in your pump, leave the rubber nose out, bolt the pump up, and lay under your ski, and try to move your shaft forward, and aft. if it moves AT ALL i would make up a "bumper".

Zig,
Thanks for the imput. I'll check it out when I do the install and post the results. I am thinking that a larger gap at the coupler area will cause more wear/stress on the rubber dampener and the front drive shaft bearing.
