Posted this a few years ago on PWC.today, my attempt at a roll so inspired me that I came up with a little poetry:
I'm heading out, to Lake Michigan
For a day of riding, let the fun begin!
Dropped the ski in the water, and fired her up
She's running great, not a single hiccup
Ride out to the waves, they're looking good
Think it's time to fly, oh yes I would!
Spot a nice wave, time to try a roll
Hope I don't crash, and end up on a shoal
So I gas it hard, straight up the face
Time to get busy, for a change of pace
Near the top, bars hard to port
No looking back, no time to abort
Tucked down hard, holding down my chin
Just like Smitty told me, you should see my grin
Up in the air, I'm starting to fly
See nothing but water, and then the sky
Coming down fast, somethings not right
Spot nothing but water, no sky in sight
I hit the water, upside down is me
Only thing above me, is a big blue ski
Next thing I know, I get hit in the head
Handle pole, hood, I'm probably dead
Next time I'm riding, I'm wearing a lid
To protect me melon, from what I just did
Oh yes I was saved, not because I'm good
Cause I keep my plastic Jesus, strapped under the hood!
