Super Jet Cylinders Oxidized

Hey guys,

I've been working on my 96' Super Jet for about 4 years now and because its has been out of the water for 4 years in a barn, the cylinders have oxidized as well as other engine parts (I think). I finally had it ready to start this spring, but when I attempted to start it, the starter started smoking like it was seized up. I also tried moving the crank to move the cylinders and it took some time to break them loose. I live in Michigan and the ski has been in a barn that is not heated. It also hasn't been turned over in 4 years.

Anyone else have an oxidation issue with their 701?

Being a watercraft there will be moisture no matter what and you gotta compensate for that. Winterizing it sometimes doesn't do what they say. I like to winterize and run it once a month then winterize again... for 4-5 months keeps everything lubed etc.

Theres always water left in the pipe and water box and one cylinder is always going to have the piston down enough to let moisture inside from the pipe. They are bound to rust unless you really fog them heavy even then it can still happen over long periods of time.
