"cart tank"

has anyone ever tried to make their own "cart tank"? like just have a prof. welder do some alum. or other stronger material? with some inner coating to protect the metal, or even a bladder type setup internally in the tank. Other than that has anyone experimented with a different crafts tank? like smaller but would still work, 440/550? any suggestions?

I remember a photo of a ski with a gas can
tapped for use as a fuel tank in ti
Cheap and easy!

Ive seen photos of that too. You sure could make an aluminum one, would probably be lighter than a stock tank and can make it any shape you want. I dont even think you would need to coat the aluminum

just have to make sure it is sealed right, i mean, besides making room for the bigger exhaust systems, why do people use cart tanks, why not just fill the stock tank with minimal fuel and ride. cart tanks can get expensive!!!!!

cart tanks are like 50$they are not as wide, with less space on the bottom so the pickups stay submerged better when throwin your ski around. A gallon in a cart tank is almost half full tank. A gallon in a stock tank is like 1.5 inches with alot of room to slosh around and suck air. Plus alot of am hulls simply won't fit a stock tank

so here is my idea, and my terrible drawing. the red is obviously going to be about a 2 gallon tank and the black is the fuel pick ups. the black on the bottom is going to be a wedge or some sort fastened to the bottom so that the whole tank as at an angle (with the thick part of the wedge in the front of the boat) this will allow the optimal fuel pick up when low on fuel, and when you have the nose up on plane or on take-offs it will fill the lowest most part of the tank and still allow you to pick up fuel. tell me what you think? ideas? suggestions? i know it will take a different fitting from Lowes (my place of employment) to get this things right, but hey i got a lot of time to mingle in the plumbing dept to figure it out.

nobody likes the drawing? no suggestions? no comments of complaints? man........it seems like if it doesn't have the word "carbon" or "fiber" it's not worth commenting on......:261:
