Carb problem

okay will i got my 44sbn and im going to get a rebuild kit for it but i guess the guy who had it broke a screw on the jetside and tapped two new holes which tear into the diaphragm (i think thats waht it is). so what i wanna do is drill out the broken screw and cover up the two he made. there is also this clearish red sealent he used all over it and i wanna ge that crap off. you think that carb cleaner will do it? plus i stripped the freakin cover were the jets are hiding unde:banghead:r....how the heck to i get those out?? man this carb needs some TLC bad!!! any help please! and here is a picture of waht i stripped and were the holes were drilled you can kinda see it.

You can drill and use an extractor on those screws, just have to be carefull. If you can get the other screw out, you could drill the head and then use needle nose vice grips and you may be able to remove the screw that way.

to get the screws out where the jets go, clean the screw heads out real good and get the oil out. jbweld a couple of #2 philips bit tips in the screws and back em out when it cures. works like a charm

What I do is get one of those phillips heads with the little raised part in between the crosses. (i think there called an advanced phillips), and I lightly tap them in the where the raised part bites, and use a 1/4" bit and a ratchet and slowly but firmly loosen, and theyve worked evertime Ive done it.
