Blue yoga mat = crap

I know a bunch of people have used the blue yoga mat from walmart as padding for their ski. So to help steer people away from it, I thought I would post my experience with it. I used one layer in the front and two layers in the back. It was fairly soft but I pulled it up to add more padding to help keep my feet in the footholds.

Two days after I rode, I pulled up the layer and a half of yoga mat and it was drenched in water! That stuff basically weighs nothing when you put it down but when I pulled it up, it weighed 5 lbs! This does not include all the water left in the tray that I wasn't able to collect and all the water that puddled on my garage floor while I was removing the rest.

nonsense....I never even noticed the difference

I have used 8mm, 2x8mm, and 24mm and will never go back to anything other than 24

You've got new foam so you're already standing about three feet above the water anyway.

a buddy ran two layers of 24mm...it was too tall...i was thinking if you removed 24mm of foam from the tray and re glassed it you could run two layers of 24mm and be at the same height...i dont know if you could do that because of the pump cavity though..

OMG that's almost 2 inches of padding! Might as well another 2 layers and call it a couch...or pretend you're on a 3D in kart mode...:hitwithrock:

well when you ride in the surf you need more padding than flatwater, i also ride barefoot...i havent tried the new plush 24mm but after a while if your heavy like me you make indentations in the foam (i ride with straps so my feet are always in the same place) so its basically like you have half as much foam under your feet where u need it...the plush isnt supossed to break down like that....and my buddy that ran two layers shattered his heel doing a 20ft+ backflip
