Another Winterizing Question....

Hey guys..getting ready to finish winterizing three 701's(two waveblasters and a superjet)...Im not so worried about the water in the sj motor since the motor is pulled out of the ski and can be blown out easily...But the Waveblaster are what im concerned about. Here in the midwest its getting well into freezing temps so I need to get this done asap.

I need waveblaster specific info on how to get the antifreeze through the motor. Do I just pull the line off of the head and hook up a hose&funnel and let 50/50 antifreeze run into the head?

I also have to do a 99 SPX with the 787 Motor..need specifics on doing this one also.

I have already put stabil in the fuel, fogged the cylinders and gotten all other water out of the skis. Thanks for the info.

Dont worry bout it ne more..I ended up just pulling inlet hoses and runnin antifreeze in them. Hope that works.

I figure anything is better than my winterization methods last year(pulling the batteries and letting them sit!)

honestly i havent ever heard of a cyl cracking on a sj, not even a jetski, im sure it has happened tho. I think it happens more in outboards. I normally blow through the lines and pour jus a lil bit into the head. Never had a problem last 6 years living in Northern MI.

i have never put anti-freeze in any of my yamahas - never had any problems.

I put stabil in the tank and then I just run it for 15-20 seconds, reving the motor to blow out any water. then while it's running i fog the carbs. after i fog the cylinders and drop a cap full of oil down each cylinder. I drain all fuel from the tank, remove the battery and spray the motor down with a good rust inhibitor and leave the hood propped open to keep any condensation from building up. Spray some lube down the cable ends and I'm done.

my skis stay in an unheated garage in bitter cold temps all winter.

Like I said, I ended up just getting some antifreeze down the head until it started running out the back. After that I also turned them over a couple times just to make sure there was nothing in the cylinders. I have never winterized ski's before and just wanted to make sure I actually did it right this year.

I quit putting oil down my plug holes, used too do it, but then one winter I decided to tear my motor apart for a rebuild, the oil set up on the rings and the cylinder walls really hard. I took a while of scrapin to clean em up. After that I just fog em really good.

really? wow, never heard of that. I'm assuming it set up because of the cold... once the warm weather breaks the oils would regain it's viscosity right?
