Amsoil Injector, Dominator & Interceptor

So, I just ordered some Amsoil HP Injector Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil (HPI) but after reading a bunch of threads here it seems most people run the Interceptor or Dominator.

For a stock (engine) 94 SJ... will the "HP Injector" oil be fine? It's $25/gallon compared to the more costly INterceptor and dominator. (Dom. also says not suggested for constant (non-race) usage I noticed.)

Anyone run the Amsoil HP Injector oil?

I've run that for a few years... works great. Just changed to the Dominator... i never noticed that non-race suggestion though... hmmm, wonder why? Anyone know?

Klotz does smell great, I agree. Maybe it was the combo of the Amsoil, the Stabil that was still in the gas from winterizing, and the fact that it was crazy hot that day....

I ran one tankfull, but the smell made me want to hurl. Never had that happen with any other oil before. Maybe I'm allergic to non TC-W3 rated oil?:dunno:

HP Injector Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil (HPI)
Excellent for all outboard motors with a performance emphasis on modern direct fuel injected (DFI) technology. Also recommended for personal watercraft, jet boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles and ATVs. Injector use or 50:1 premix.
NMMA TC-W3, API TC

^-- From their site.

I guess I better use some before I order a lot to make sure I don't feel/smell the same way ;) Afterall for $5 more the interceptor wouldn't be bad if it didn't make me want to hurl ;)

Good find. They must have recently had it tested, or finally added it to the site. I remember the great oil debate last year and their was nothing showing that rating. Thanks

ive ran intercepter in all my skis for a while now and its great, only problem is once its mixed its hard to tell because its caramel color, with the dark oils its a given.

It seems a lot of ppl prefer the Interceptor over the HP Injector is there a specific reason for this?

Also... anyone know if I can run the Amsoil HP Injector in a Sea Doo GTX DI?

Note: HP Injector is sticky/messy... I got some on my hands today and the dirt in the water stuck to them as I tried to wash it off... i had to rub my hands with a lot of sand to get the stuff off!! A lot more "slippy" than the Red Line... could be bad could be good ;)

In my power valved couch I used to run the Interceptor. Made a huge difference over Yamagube.
In the SJ I run the Dominator, love the red color. :dunno:

As for the price, I know that I pay less than $20 per gallon when I but a case of 4.

Thanks for the info..

I'm still curious from a technical standpoint why run Interceptor instead of HP Injector?

HP Injector say it's TCW3 but Interceptor does not... so that's why I'm curious so many people run Interceptor.. WHY?

intercepter is designed for 2-strokes with the exhaust valves. ( like the 787, and 951 sea doos, the yamahas with valves, ect) the hp injector is correct for your SJ.

i am an amsoil dealer here at my shop, and have been using it for years. it's good stuff.

Here is the information on the Dominator oil.
Why does AMSOIL DOMINATOR™ Synthetic 2-Cycle Racing Oil (TDR) Say* Not suitable for long-term use in outboard motors as a TC-W3 type oil, although excellent as a race oil for short-term use where motors are periodically inspected?
In order to obtain the highest level of protection, the AMSOIL Dominator Racing oil contains what is referred to as ash-type chemistry. Though this type of chemistry provides the additional safety margin required in racing it also tends to allow for additional deposit formation within the combustion chamber. The rate of formation is slow but over the course of many seasons of operation, it could present a problem in certain PWC applications. In competition, engines are inspected or rebuilt frequently. That being the case, ash-type chemistry and hence deposit formation is never really a concern. In an application in which the equipment may run for years without inspection or cleaning, the possibility of a concern does exist. Hence, the reason for our warning statement you noted. If you have performed some serious engine modifications, the AMSOIL Dominator would be the preferred product. You would just have to remember to inspect it for combustion chamber deposits every few years. I hope this helps.

That's some good info right there.

Would running SeaFoam periodically cleanout these deposits?

For the SMALL price difference and improved protection of the Dominator it may be worth it for even my non-built motor.
