I have a 95 sxi it is my first standup. i was wondering if it is worth spending alot of money on (tubbies, pipe, engine mods...etc.) or should i just get it going, ride it, and save up for a superjet?? that seems to be the ski of choice. I will be starting to build soon. I am not going to go nuts all at once though. I will be mostly surf riding? Any good setup advice? thanks

I know a guy that might trade a square for a kawi come to think of it LOL Personally I started with a kawi and my fleet is all YAMI now! Only reason I need a kawi now is for the wife. My opinion is the kawis are great for rec use. But if one ever plans to get serious you will end up with a yamaha freestyle wise anyway.

Although I love my 750sx and think it has more punch than most other ski's, I'm still a little hesitant to continue putting money into it because everyone swears by SJ's. Most of the really expensive stuff was already on mine when I bought it but I haven't dropped much money into this ski...only time.
The problem I'm noticing is that if you buy a 750 for $1000 and then put $1500 worth of mods into it...it's still only worth about $1500 or $2000 if you're lucky.

your asking an oipinion of a very yamaha bias crowd on these boards, if you do buy a superjet, buy one with the expensive stuff done to it already like a pipe, head, prop all that stuff. because i dont care what these guys say i have seen all the parts superjet the guys have on their skis and in no way is it cheap to build a superjet. they say its expensive to build a kawi, newsflash you spend the same money on a superjet if not more from what i see. because in stock form, they are total terds.

This is a superjet biases forum...

Lets keep to the basics, you answer your own question...

yamaha for freestyle, kawi for bouey's (or freestlye if your DJKORN)

If you like the Kawi, keep a kawi, if you ride a yamaha, and like it, buy a yamaha.

As for building up the 750, no, it's probably not worth the money (unless you get the used parts super cheap). The reason is that for the cost of building your 750, you could probably sell your 750 and buy a used SXR. You'd get all the power that would would have from a modified 750, in a newer ski, that handles similarly, with better reliability and the ability to upgrade.
